Keoladeo
Ghana National Park
The rich aquatic plant and animal life
in the shallow, fresh-water marsh of Bharatpur has been attracting
resident and migratory aquatic birds in thousands since times immemorial.
It has a recorded history of 100 years of duck shoots. 353 species of
birds belonging to 56 families, converge within the 29 sq km area of the
National Park come winter and colonies of birds are formed on the treetops
and amongst shrubs.
Ranthambhor
National Park
History and natural heritage blend in the
right proportion in the Ranthambhor Park, a tiger reserve under the
Project Tiger, giving you the best chance for tiger sightings. It's
landscape is dominated by the Vindhyan hill range with its steep
escarpments. The ancient sedimentary, limestone and sandstone rocks,
perennial lakes, and dry deciduous vegetation are part of its indicative
topography.
Sariska
Tiger Reserve
It is the nearest tiger-land from Delhi (190
km). The landscape of Sariska is dominated by sharp cliffs of hills and
narrow valleys of the Aravallis. The forests are dry and deciduous. The
grassy glades and woodland covers are excellent niches for the animals of
prey namely tiger and leopard.
Sanctuaries
The vast tracts of sands around Jaisalmer, with their wood
fossils have been designated the Desert National Park. There may be little
about the desert that calls for protection, leave alone support wildlife
but the desert has a fragile eco-system that has a unique variety of
species. These include the Great Indian Bustard, recently saved from
extinction
