East Java Indonesia
Realty, there's only one major destination in East Java at the moment: Garalagan, which is generally known as G-Land. This small bay is a surfing legend. G-Land is straight across from Bali, and picks up the same swells, but it seems to get them bigger and because of the shape of the reef has a faster, better-shaped tube that gives a longer ride. Many experts regard G-Land as the best left in the world, and it's almost certainly the most consistent.
There's still only one small surf camp here, and though it's a little more comfortable than in the early days it holds very few people. in any c&se, G-Land is unquestionably an experts' wave. You need to be very, very good to even attempt it. Unless you're right up there with the champions, you're better off just looking at the photos and dreaming ...
