Taj Mahal, AgraThe age old city of Agra was once the power house during the medieval times. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna river, it forms a part of the great northern plains. The royal city is home to the legendary Taj Mahal , the great wonder of the world built by Emperor Shah Jahan. The Taj is commonly referred to as the Crown Palace and was created in memory of the lovely queen Mumtaj Mahal. The gardens are laid in the exterior or to the entrance of the Mahal and it takes at the least 3 hours to completely visit the Taj and praise its famous Pietra Dura. The gardens laid out in Persian style add to the beauty of the Taj. After completing a good tour to the world's best architecture another beauty awaits the visitors- The Agra Fort.
Built on the banks of the Yamuna River, the Massive Agra fort symbolises the power of the Mughuls to prevent any kingd of enemy attack by creating the huge ramparts. Within its walls Jahangir built the rose-red garden and later Shah Jahan embellished it with marble mosque, palaces and gem inlaid pavilions Akbar laid the foundation to the wonderful creation in the year 1565 and on the first thought it gives the image of a military establishment as it was first erected as such as a form of protection from the enemies. Later the fort was Partially transformed to a lavish Palace. It needs around 2 to 3 hours to have a good view of the fort premises and visitors can even be guided by a tourist guide who knows good history.
After a break for the lunch tasting various local dishes of Agra, travellers can visit the great Tomb of Iltutmish, the Akbar's Mausoleum, Rambagh Gardens, Chini Ki Rouza and the Buland Darwaza. All of the above architecture clearly depicts the grandness of the architecture of the times. The Jama Masjid called the largest Mosque in India has spaces for performing prayers by thousands of people's together. One can wonder at its size which is a huge edifice only to be admired. After the visit to the Jama Masjid, visitors can move towards the Mouseloem of Akbar built of red sand stone where a blend of the Hindu and the Muslim style of architecture can be seen . Visitors to the place need at least one hour in hand to move around the Tomb and the Great Jama Masjid.
The evening can be devoted to the beautiful garden situated at Rambagh Gardens and the Dayal Bagh Gardens. Created by Babur, the Rambagh and the Dayal Bagh Garden are located around 3 kms from the Tomb of Itumad ud Daulah. One can always have the pleasure of taking a rest of few minutes in the cold breezes of the garden environment. They add to the beautiful land scape of the place. Just 15 kms from the city center the Dayalbagh is a unique pilgrimage apart from the lovely gardens, Dayal Sahib the founder of the Radhosoami Satsang movement, who started the organisation in 1861.Dedicated to the swami Maharaj the the grand memorial is placed in the garden and even worshipped. The memorial which is 110 feet can be praised for its beauty.
After finishing the tour of the important monuments and places , the visitors can move out to the market complex and buy things that catche their attention. Finally they can return to their hotel rooms for a sound sleep after a hard day's adventure.
